Cape Town Alive is teaming up with Baraza to launch their Sunday Drinks special this Sunday 19 
July.

The team at CTA has put together a killer line up starting at 5PM. The best thing of all is the entrance is free... Hooray!!!  As a warm up for this event we have asked a couple of questions to help our community get to know the DJ's that will be rocking the decks come Sunday night...

i-Can, I changed my status on facebook because I had no idea what it should be, and two of my friends me that Candice is too shit a dj name, so I put it out there and the best one was i-Can.

CTA:  How would you describe your sound?
Indie Rock, Electronic, Minimal.

CTA: If you could transform into any animal at will, which one would you choose and why?
An Eagle, Because I can and it has all the freedom in the world.

James:   Pirate! cause of the hats and rum argggggggggggg

CTA:      What is your DJ Name and how did you come up with it?
James:   James Mack is the name. it just sorta popped up like a rogue kitten.

CTA:      How would you describe your sound?
James:   hmmmm, at the moment i'm stuck between the tech house beats which i'm in love with and the 5 year old
on a box of fast forward chocolate?

James:   hmmm, would have to be a wolf, because they make music.

James:   Chris Jack, Ryan Murgatroyd, Mark LilPhil, Kosta K, Nick Supply, Pascal & Pearce :) cant choose 1 :)

CTA: What is your DJ Name and how did you come up with it?
Some good friends returned from a trip into South America calling me el Gordo, with relevance to my real name 'Gordon,' i reckoned it rolled of the tongue with ease untill i found out months later it was Spanish for 'the fatty.' Friends like these...

CTA:  How would you describe your sound?
If i'm playing minimal then deep, groovy and melodic, if electro then its harder, busier and more progressive. I strive to find different and interesting sounds so as to keep the set fresh and distinctive.

CTA: If you could transform into any animal at will, which one would you choose and why?
A harpoon impervious Sperm Whale, deep sea exploration!

CTA: Who is your favorite Cape Town DJ?
Hmmm, there are a couple, I've always enjoyed the Killer Robot crew a great deal.

Bugged out! mixes by Ivan Smagghe and Erol Alkan are currently whats keeping my tapedeck in check.

1) Pirate.....i Know a pirate who Dj's, DJ hook.

2)My DJ name is LeVinSkY......It was my nick-name back in school, i actually created it myself, and it just caught on and to me it sounded cool, so now its my DJ name.

CTA:  How would you describe your sound?
3)Awsum build-ups with a crazy drop and some heavy heavy BASS!

CTA: If you could transform into any animal at will, which one would you choose and why?
4) SpongeBob Squarepants.....he is such a majestic animal.

6) Aniki- Hip hop Thrilla.....Some nasty Drops with a bit of old school hip hop...

CTA: Would you rather be a pirate or an outlaw?
Ko-Sher: I'd rather be an outlaw, I get sea sick.

CTA: What is your DJ Name and how did you come up with it?
Ko-Sher: Ko-Sher is taken from the jewish term "kosher." Kosher refers to food being of a certain high standard, the same way that my DJing is of a certain high standard.

CTA:  How would you describe your sound?
Ko-Sher: I always try to play music with melody and progress. Juicy bass lines with thick heavy leads along with clean and pure kicks are essential, as long as they are acompanied by melody. Rotten filth just doesn't do it for me.

CTA: If you could transform into any animal at will, which one would you choose and why?
Ko-Sher: A big hairy gorilla, because I wouldn't need to transform that much.

CTA: Who is your favorite Cape Town DJ?
Ko-Sher: Their blend of production and musical knowledge, along with the their song selection and mixing, puts Pascal and Pierce at the top of my list.

Ko-Sher: Fresh Goes Electro 2, and tracks form EDX and adam k & soha

Origionaly it was Greth D but I rather decided to use my sir name, because it sounds cool.

Very Techi, with a little bit of vocal progressive and experimental.

A Black Panther, Because Michael Jackson turned into one on his thriller DVD

LilPhil – It’s a nickname from a good friend of mine, he’s older than me and he knew my dad before he knew me (My Dad’s name is Phil) so it just stuck some how..

CTA:  How would you describe your sound?
Im pretty versatile so I can play most club sounds. I don’t play commercial it, gets a it much when everyone starts playing the same big tunes… I Love this new style of Techno, Tech house and Progressive its so musical yet grooving and the quality of the music production is phenomenal.

CTA: If you could transform into any animal at will, which one would you choose and why?
I’m a party animal does that count?

Chris Jack… He’s mad behind the decks and is really dedicated. He always manages get the club vibing.

I enjoy all types of music but when im mixing behind those decks i want the crowd to jam to the smoothest filthiest wobbliest beats

There are so many good dj's in cape town but my favorite would have to be Pascal and pearce or nick supply.
