Bios on the acts
Gavin Bonner (UK)
Born in London , Gavin spent much of his childhood in South Africa growing up with a love of rock and African music and rhythms . At the age of thirteen he worked as a voluntary assistant at Johannesburgs' legendary Market Theatre and was already playing drums in heavy metal bands around the bars of Hillbrow . Thus was his love for theatre and music established at an early age.
A move back to London at aged 14 opened up a world of musical diversity and he played with all kinds of bands touring round England and playing at many festivals including Glastonbury ... Years of travel followed to Australia , Europe , Canada , India , Pakistan , Israel ,Egypt , Turkey and more where he absorbed different philosphies , languages , stories and music. In 2004 Gavin settled in Cape Town he is now exploring the world comedic story telling.
Richard Hardiman (KFM)
Capetonians are familiar with Richard Hardiman the Partyman and his move to the afternoon drive show on 94.5 Kfm was a popular one. Thousands of listeners now know that the best way to neutralise the stress of a busy day in Cape Town is to tune in to his 3 to 7pm show on weekdays. When he is not on air Richard indulges himself and his talents in the art of stand-up comedy and scriptwriting and is currently writing a children's book.
Martin Evans (Comedia)
Martin Evans is a naturally funny comedian who uses a very clever blend of wit and self-deprecation to ease the audience into a very unique insight into his outstanding sense of humour. You may have recognized him, most recenty from the Castle adverts and as a founding member of Comedia, he has run, hosted and performed in most of the regular comedy events in Cape Town, including hosting and managing the Lemon Tree Theatre at Rocking The Daisies.
Dave Levinsohn (Comedia)
The Dave show is the comedy of Dave Levinsohn. Dave likes to make people laugh, he would do it for free, but he's half Jewish! He's been banging away the SA comedy scene since 1997, starting at the Coffee Lounge in Cape Town. He was offered an open spot at the first Smirnoff Comedy Festival. "The longest 7 minutes of my life" Says Dave (and possibly for that audience too). But he never gave up, and was asked to join a bunch of Cape Town comics who were planning a Sunday night venue at The Independent Armchair Theatre. The gig ran for 4 years and uncovered a large pool of talent still working in the industry.
Mum-z
Mum-z is one of SA's most promising up-and-coming comedians. He only dedicates part of his time to comedy, as he is very dedicated to the online media environment, where he works by day. His entertainment career began at the age of 11 years when he was a presenter on the teen continuity programme Kidz Can and then theatre. He began doing comedy professionally in 2007 and has since performed at many of the big comedy shows around the country including Blacks Only, Real Heavyweight Comedy jam, Arts Alive, Rocking the Daisies and Soweto Comedy Festival.
