Mzoli's is the spot to go for the ultimate African Braai experience. Mzoli's has the atmosphere, the vibe and the best meat in Gugs to be sure that your day 'out of town' is one to remember.
I was in Gugulethu on Sunday, as you do, and my mission around the area ended up with a stop off at Mzoli's for a bite to eat as the weekend wound down.
The wind down turned into a DJ, some lagers, a face full of Mzoli's finest cuts and all round good times as folks from cultures far and wide soaked up the african experience under clear (fine a little cape windy) skies.
For those of you who haven't been to Mzoli's... where have you been?
To the foreign traveller, Mzoli's is a real must on you travel agenda. The chance to fraternise with local people in the real local atmosphere is something you don't find at any other establishment. Lets be serious, Crayfish at the V & A waterfront does not yell 'african adventure'- Mzoli's on the other hand screams it, with a melodic, gum boot slapping, African rhythm.
To my fellow South Africans who haven't been... take your blinkers out of the past and step boldly into the future of our Rainbow nation. Mzoli's is not only a lesson in cultural cuisine but a lesson in political development and encompasses the best results of our Political freedom of 15 years ago. Take a step towards equality and embrace your fellow african, with a lamb chop in one hand, a cold lager in the other, and the african spirit resonating from your hips.
I had to whip out my cellphone and snap up a bit of the vibe.....
P.s. Jamie Oliver absolutely loves this place
