>>>VISION SERPENT<<<

SAT. 20 March 2010
Experience Psytrance Culture!

Ecstatic dancing – whether at parties or more ritualised settings - is about touching base with the cosmos. As an avatar of this blissful union, the Vision Serpent in Mayan cosmology represents (amongst other things) the moment during public rituals when entire communities are swept up in fits of euphoric dancing. Conjured into being through blissful grooves, vision serpents are portal openers that unlock gateways into fabulous other worlds. They were – and still remain – potent symbols of psychedelic trance culture.

From progressive to full-on, the Motion Pool features the shamans of local and international psytrance. (Saturday afternoon till late Sunday afternoon)

BURN IN NOISE

Since his debut in 2005, Brazil’s Gustavo Manfroni (aka Burn in Noise) has gained a global reputation as one of the most innovative talents in psy-trance. His signature warm basslines and deeply textured psychedelic leads have been hailed by many as representing a brand new direction in daytime full-on. Having rocked dancefloors at Boom, Universo Parelello, Vuuv, Sonica, Full Moon and Glade, Gustavo makes his SA-debut at Vision Serpent. STARSPINE Jacques Coetzee (aka. Starspine) is one of SA’s early psy-trance pioneers. He began turning crowds on to psy-trance in the mid-nineties and formed Lunatech in 1999. Soon after, he started Bent Sentient – one of the first SA live-acts to obtain an international release. Since then he’s been based in Spain as a label dj for Alchemy and Nutek records. 2010 sees Jacques returning to Cape Town for the first time in 6 years – don’t miss him working his dancefloor magic at Vision Serpent!

About Burn in Noise

Image and video hosting by TinyPic Gustavo Manfroni was brought up dedicating his time and interest completely to music. He's been playing the guitar since his early days. He played in 2 rock bands, up to the day when, during a trip to london, got in touch with the psychedelic trance music. The interest in eletronic music grew fast and, in the end of 1999, started buying softwares for producing music. Signed to Alchemy Records in 2007, he has gained recognition as one of the top live acts over the past few years. With performances at festivals across the globe, (e.g. Boom Festival (Portugal), Universo Paralello (Brazil), Vuuv Festival (Germany), Sonica Festival (Italy), Full Moon Festival (Germany), Glade Festival (UK) etc...), and more than 60 releases on labels worldwide, Gustavo has honed his style into dancefloor perfection. Already with two acclaimed albums, ‘Broken MP3’, released on Brazilian label Vagalume Records in 2005, and his storming second album, ‘Passing Clouds’, released on Alchemy Records in 2008, Burn in Noise comes again with his new Digital EP “Foxy”, just released Nov 2009. In 2009 he had 2 nominations (best artist and best track) on the biggest selling music portal, Beatport Awards. The track “Transparent” of his “Passing Clouds” Album was one of the 3 most selling tracks in the whole year of 2008 at Psytrance Section on Beatport. With an individual style focusing on strong warm basslines and textured, psychedelic leads that demand your attention, it breaks away from the standard full-on, representing a new, fresh direction in dancefloor music. Gustavo together with Swarup and Zumbi, released the self-titled album “The First Stone” in January 2006. They are putting the final touches on their second album which will be out early 2010. In 2009 He joined forces with the legend Dickster (Green Nuns of the Revolution, AMD), to form his new live act called “Circuit Breakers”. With already one top selling EP “Brazinglish” on Nano Records, you can expect for 2010 much more to come from the duo.
