This is a simple guide on how to get your blogs on Cape Town Alive some more exposure on the web, so you can have more people visiting your blog and possibly promoting it more themselves!

The best method to do this is social media. At the bottom of this blog you will be able to find out more information about what social media is.

So, to get started, there are a number of social media websites that you can submit your blog to. Once you submit your blog - other users around the web are able to vote for your entry. The amount of votes you will recieve depends on the quality of your content you have written.

If people like it, they will vote for it - and in turn, you will receive more hits as you receive more votes.

Generally, it is against the "ethical procedure" of social media to submit your own entries to social media websites, but in my eyes, submitting your best pieces is not the end of the world.

So, how do you go about doing this? There are a few major social media websites around:

* Facebook
* del.icio.us
* Digg
* Furl
* Yahoo! My Web
* StumbleUpon
* Google Bookmarks
* Technorati
* reddit
* Twitter

Basically the way they work is all the same. You submit the URL of the blog, the title of the blog and some keywords to describe your blog. For Example:

Title: My top 10 best restaurants in Cape Town
URL: http://www.this-would-be-the-url-to-my-blog-on-cape-town-alive.co.za
Keywords: restaurant, top 10, cape town, food, drink

When you are doing this on Cape Town Alive, we have made it a little bit easier.

When you are viewing your blog, you can click at the bottom right of the content the word "Bookmark" - see below:

This will open up a little window that looks like this:

You can click on any of these links, although they do require an account at the respective website, Cape Town Alive will automatically add the TITLE, URL and for most of these sites the KEYWORDS.

Easy as that!

Twitter, will work a bit differently to the rest of these, as there is no voting system - if you have a twitter account and use it often, you will know what I mean.

That is a basic breakdown of how you can use social media to your advantage, and if I were to recommend one, use Facebook as I'm sure a lot of your friends will click the link you posted!
