Here is a list of all the Speed traps around the Western Cape:

CITY ROAD DESCRIPTION OF LOCATION
Vredendal Vredendal to Luztville 1) As you enter Vredendal from Klawer on the R363 (the old road), just as you enter the town, on a far opposite corner the cops stand underneath a tree.
2) As you enter Vredendal on the back road (pass the railway station), just after you crossed the railway line, and exiting the bend ahead, they watch you from a position in fron of a second-hand car dealer on the left-hand side, or they catch up with you just before crossing the bridge, they stand on the right hand side opposite Up-to-Date market.
3) This is a nasty one. As you exit Vredendal towards Lutzville, they catch you within the 60 km/h zone. They normally trap using the old way (check the lines about 50-100 meters as you leave the main road), or they have a laser cam at the trees. Thanks Dr Watson.
Paarl Wellington to Paarl Back Road Trapping on the road from Wellington into Paarl, pass Mbeqweni (this is call the back road from Wellington to Paarl) - 60 Km/h zone. Thanks Craig.
Cape Town / Pinelands Jan Smuts Look out for a camera on Jan Smuts in Pinelands. Thanks Colin.
Cape Town Vanguard Drive (N7) / Frans Conradie Look out for the fixed camera(red-light and speed - 60km/h) at the intersection of Vanguard Dr. and Frans Conradie in Goodwood. Thanks to Jipa7, Lol and JR.
Du Noon N7 Un-manned radar camera mounted on crash barrier southbound at the temporary lane changes around the new bridge works at Du Noon. Cops are just over the hill (ha!) so you can't see them before they see you. Thanks Jules.
Cape town R27 Look out for trapping just before bridge on the way from Table View to Milnerton. Thanks Malaika.

Cape town Union avenue / Newlands There is a robot at Union avenue at the Kirstenbosch turn off which has a camera with the dual purpose of beating the red light and speeding as the limit changes to 60kmh about 250m before the robot. Thanks Lester.
Stellenbosch and Strand Paarl Strand Link Road Watch out for camera and lazer trapping from the N1 turnoff at Paarl all the way to Strand there are numerous camera and laser traps. Thanks John.
Saldahna Saldanha Main Road Camera right opposite West Coast High School. Thanks Tandi.
Cape Town - Blackheath Strand Road A camera situated on the road leading from Kuilsriver to Eersteriver. It is a an open, dual-lane- road, with industrial construction only starting now. The speed limit is a ridiculous 60km/h! Thanks Salvin.

Cape Town - Gardens De Waal Drive Speed trapping (60km/h) at the end of the downhill straight on De Waal Drive going into the CBD, just before the off ramp that goes up towards Gardens. Thanks Neil.
Cape Town Marine Drive Look out for the camera on Marine Drive in Parden Eiland. Thanks Noonoos.
Cape Town M3 On route to Cape Town from Tokai: This speedtrap was installed today! It is at the exact same location as the old camera under the ladies' mile bridge, but obviously on the road heading to town. Thanks Robin.
Cape Town / Milnerton Otto Du Plessis Drive Otto Du Plessis Drive, Between Ocean Way & Marine Drive, Milnerton. Thanks Nicky.
Cape Town Eastern Boulevard Look out for a camera on Eastern Boulevard in Cape Town. Thanks Jose.
Plettenberg Bay N2 Look out for trapping on the N2 at Plettenberg Bay. Thanks Corne.
Parow N1 North Radar gun under N1 city bridge northbound on 120 km/h stretch of road, going in and out of town. Thanks Johan.
Kensington Voortrekker Speed enforcement in Voortrekker rd, Kensington, just past 16th Ave, direction Bellville. Look out for a White Toyota Venture, it's rear door was open. Trapping with Prolaser3 camera. Speed 60 km/h. :-) Thanks Merv.
Mosselbay Heiderand Permanent camera for red robot in Mosselbay at Heiderand crossing. Also In Mosselbay area they are moving all around with hand laser guns, especially when entering Mosselbay on the N2. Thanks.
Cape Town R102 As you enter Eerste River from Blackheath you cross a bridge. A couple of Sunday mornings there has been a traffic cop operating a radar trap to catch traffic coming into Eeerste river. Thanks David.
Cape Town R102 At the intersection between the R102(Van Riebeeck Rd) and Sarepta Road (Near the Kuilsrivier private Hospital) there are 2 fixed cameras on the intersection for speed and jumping red lights. Thanks David.
Hermanus R43 from the N2 to Hermanus Traveling from the N2 on the R43 to Hermanus there is sometimes a white VW Caddy parked on the right hand side of the road with the camera facing traffic coming from Hermanus. They also trap traffic going towards Hermanus. The problem is that there are no camera signs facing the traffic going towards Hermanus. They know that it's illegal yet they keep on trapping.
Cape Town N2 There is a mobile camera (Lazer , I think) under the Delft / Blue downs Bridge on the R300,(Speed limit is 120) direction N2, the camera is mounted low, and the vehicle is between the two lanes of the R300, the vehicle is a small opel corsa. Thanks Andre.
Cape Town N2 A radar trap is used often on the bend just past Somerset mall going towards Somerset west (N2). They hide the camera in the centre isle behind the chevron boards, hardly noticeable. Thanks Brian.
Cape Town Kloof Nek Road Speed trapping happening on Kloof Nek Road from Camps Bay to town. Look out for cameras just before you reach the top of the neck and further down as the two lanes become one. Thanks Anon.
Cape Town M3 M3 Blue Route past Constantia. Fixed camera under the Ladies Mile. Speed limit is 100km/h. Thanks Zane
Cape Town / Stellenbosch N1 Permanent Speedtrap on the left at a spot where you would normally put put foot along the road from the N1 into Stellenbosch travelling South. Speed limit 80km/h. Thanks Romeo
Hermanus Botrivier Road Vermont in Hermanus. Botrivier Road travelling North. Temporary sppedtrap Speed Limit 90km/h. Thanks Alex
Cape Town Union / Newlands Modified red light camera, which is now also a speeding camera at the intersection of Union and Newlands Avenue in Cape Town. The speed limit there is 60km/h. I noticed that the speeding camera warning sign has been spray painted over (it is not at all visible) only the speed limit part of the sign is. Thanks Brian
Plettenberg Bay N2 Speedtraps N2 Westbound at Plett. Mobile trap just past the New Horizons R bend just after the speed limit increases from 60 to 80kph. Thanks Mike
Plettenberg Bay N2 Fixed camera on centre island on the approaches to the new circle at the Shell Ultra City. It is a small box (approximately 400mm cubed) on a 3" pole just in front of the "idiot-gram" showing how to negotiate the circle. Thanks Mike
Plettenberg Bay N2 N2 East bound near Tarn Country House, between the Keurbooms and Crags located at a side road on RHS going for E bound traffic. (Limit = 80) Also Piesangvalie Road, Plett. Sits anywhere on this road. Very sneaky. Hides behind bushes and goes for you by viewing between the branches! (Limit = 60) Thanks Mike
Cape Town Rhodes / Newlands Warning, the camera at the intersection of southbound Rhodes Drive and Newlands Avenue has been recently (Nov/Dec 05) changed to a proper speedtrap camera. The previous red light camera measured speed but was not legal for prosecution. Thanks Steve
George N2(W) N2 West bound just past the fixed camera at Wilderness Station turn off on RHS halfway up to Dolphin Point going for West bound traffic. Look out for a white vehicle on RHS. The "revenue collector" sits infront of the vehicle on RHS. DO NOT ACCELERATE AFTER PASSING THE FIXED CAMERA! (limit = 60) Also N2 East bound at the bottom og the hill down from Dolphin Point. He sits on RHS just at the turn off to the Wilderness Station. (Limit = 60) Thanks Mike
Cape Town Frans Conradie There is a camera on Frans Conradie Drive in Brackenfell between the R300 bridge and Bracken Boulevard . Thanks V
Gordons Bay Frans Conradie There is a permanent camera on the Gordons Bay rd in Strand towards Gordons Bay, just as you pass Harmony Park Camping site turn-off. Also along the N2 towards Somerset West, pass the Somerset West Mall there is a temp camera/ radar...just as you take the bend... Thanks Darril
George N2 New fixed camera on N2 just past PetroSA heading towards George location 100m past Total Garage on your left.
Cape Town Victoria Road As you are leaving Camps Bay going towards Sea Point on Victoria Road, 150m after the turning right to Lower Kloof Road, on your left, parallel to the Glen Country Club, there is a mobile speed trap which is catching from the front, i think the limit is 50Kmh? Thanks Marc
Gordons Bay Kantonkel Road Fixed camera in Gordons Bay Rd at Katonkel Rd as you enter Gordon's Bay from Strand. (Just past Greenways complex) Also daily trapping on both lanes of the N2 at the foot of Sir Lowry's Pass (Gordon's Bay side). Thanks Herman
Paarl Berg River Boulevard Paarl - Berg River Boulevard, there is a permanet camera in the lane going towards central/Northern Paarl from Southern Paarl. The camera is fixed right by the Boys High (Boishaai) playing fields. The camera lines go across both lanes of the incoming road, but no gatso lines seem to have been put in on the other side of the road going out of Paarl. You will know when you go over the Gatso lines, as they are so badly put in it feels like you are driving over a railway track. The camera is sited on the centre island, speed limit is 60km/h. Kraaifontein N1 On the N1 to Paarl as you've left Kraaifontein & just before you get the Engen onestop, there's a bridge under which there's often a camera mounted quite low, on the right hand side under the bridge. On most occasions you will see the traffic vehicles parked on the left hand side of the road. But often they are also trapping on the opposite side of the N1 highway coming from Paarl to Cape town at exactly the same spot. Thanks Devan
Cape Town M3 On the M3 at two positions. Out of town approx 500m before the De Waal dr. going over M3 hidden behind a lamp post. 500m before the first robot in Newlands where the speed limit changes to 60km/h. Between this robot and the Shell garage in the 60 zone. Trapping with a mobile camera. Thanks Ryno
Stellenbosch / Klapmuts R44 Look out for a permanent camera catching both directions on R44 between Stellenbosch and Klapmuts just after Knorhoek/Delheimg turnoff if you're driving towards Klapmuts. It's just past the Simonsig turnoff if you are travelling towards Stellenbosch. Thanks Nic

George N2 Temporary trapping on the N2 at George. Watch out, there is a lot of trapping in this area, which includes fixed cameras and manned cameras. Thanks Russel.
Cape Town Plattekloof Rd. Driving on Plattekloof Rd. in a Southerly direction, between Panorama Medi-clinic and Hendrik Verwoed Road there is a Temporary Speedtrap. SPEED:60km/h. DESCRIPTION: The cops usually set up the camera next to the pavement and sometimes behind a van that parks next to the road. Thanks Steve.
Cape Town Beach Rd. Coming from Cape Town towards Green Point on what becomes Beach Rd. (BEFORE YOU REACH THE PERMANENT CAMERA near the pedestrian crossing at the Waterfront turn-off) a temporary camera is set up as you come around the bend paralell to Main rd. This is done on both sides of the road, alternately. Expect to find this about once a month in quiet periods usually late on a Sunday evening/early hours of Monday morning. Tip: look carefully amongst the half-grown palm trees on the waterfront side of the road for the traffic department vehicle hidden there. Thanks Anon.
Malmesbury R45 Malmesbury: Fat guy with white Toyota condor uses mobile speed camera at exits that do not have permanent cameras. Usually sets it up as you enter Malmesbury from Paarl and also where you exit Malmesbury on the Klipheuwel road to Kraaifontein and Durbanville. Also uses it a lot at roadworks where speed limit is reduced to 60km/h. Thanks Willem
Cape Town De Waal Drive A new permanent speedtrap has been installed on De Waal Drive, direction Cape Town, just after the speed limit is reduced from 80 to 60 km/h, a few meters past the pedestrian bridge at the bottom of the straight section before Roeland street/Jutland avenue. Thanks Oreste
Beaufort West N1 As you get into Beaufort West, just over the first bridge (just past the robot with speed camera). He usually sits on the left @ the trees and catches to both sides. - As u go out of Beaufort West to Johannesburg, just over the bridge before the bend. Usually sits to the right and catches BW incoming cars, but watch both sides. - As u go out of Beaufort West to Johannesburg, over the bridge and around the bend (between the Wagon Wheel and Truck Weigh-In) - Watch both sides. Stellenbosch / Paarl R44 A mobile lasergun in use on the R44 outside Stellenbosch on the way to Paarl, just after Nietvoorbij and next to Cloetesville. This section of the road carries a speed limit of 60 km/h, and just before it changes to 80km/h. The traffic officers hide under the trees on the lefthandside of the road. Thanks Charl
Eersterivier R102 There is a permanent speed camera mounted just before you enter Eersterivier on the R102 traveling from Somerset West to Kuilsrivier on your right hand side about 150m before the first robots. The speed limit is 60 km/h. Thanks CyberX
Stellenbosch R310 Please note that the permanent speed camera at Vlottenburg about 5 kilometers outside of Stellenbosch just past the Neethlingshof wine estate) can trap both the outgoing and incoming traffic. The speed camera "head" is periodically turned around to achieve this. The speed limit here is 80km per hour. Thanks Trevor

Stellenbosch Van Riebeeck Hof Road Permanent camera on the Polkadraai Poad going out of Stellenbosch towards Kuilsrivier. There is a 80 km/h zone about 5 km out of Stellenbosch, where the two lanes become one again. Thanks Colbrin
Worcester N1 On the N1 near Worcester, at the first intersection coming from Cape Town, there are permanent camera's on both sides. (thanx to Hugo H)
TableView / Cape Town Koeberg Road Koeberg Road going towards Cape Town from TableView +- 300m before Montague Gardens robot is an occasional speed trap camera.(thanx to Johan S)

Cape Town Prince George Drive A permanent speedtrap camera is being put in place on Prince George Drive going towards Grassy Park. The camera is visible on the left hand side (Royal Cape Golf Club) just after the Plumstead turnoff)(thanx to Andre)
Cape Town Marine Drive Marine Drive Milnerton in the direction of Central Cape Town, just after Racecourse Road as the road takes a bend there are always cameras in the vicinity, at all times of the day and night. Likewise on the opposite side of the road in the direction of Tableview. (thanks to Maureen M)
Cape Town / Hout Bay Victoria Road There is a permanent camera at the robots as you come down Victoria Road into Hout Bay. (thanks to Jayvant P)

Cape Town Van Riebeeck There is a permanent camera on the corner of van Riebeeck and Pioneer Streets in Kuilsriver. Just before you pass the new Hospital - outgoing and incoming.(thanks to Ju-Marie P)
Cape Town Tokai Main Rd. There is a permanent camera on the Main Road in Tokai at the intersection of Tokai & Main Rds - it will get you if you're going towards Muizenberg. Speed and red robot.

Cape Town / Betty's Bay R44 Permanent cameras on both sides of the main road in Betty's Bay. It is at the righthand turn after the municipality offices on the Pringle Bay side and the lefthand turn after Harold Porter-turnoff on the Kleinmond side. This is a 60km/h zone, but the rest of main road is 80km/h. (for skipping red lights) (thanks to Michael G)
Cape Town N7 (Vangaurd Drive) There is a permanent camera on the N7(Vanguard Drive) incoming from Mitchells Plain to Cape Town. It is situated on the bridge before the intersection of Vanguard and Klipfontein Road. (thanks to Clive B)
