Floods causing numerous accidents on Cape Towns roads

The cold front that has hit Cape Town the past weekend has caused disasters in many homes across the Mother City. We saw the mighty Camps Bay flooding all the way through to the Cape Flats. People were hit by flooding even when they stayed in doors.

Cape doctors call off strike

money.jpgWestern Cape doctors on Friday agreed to call off their strike and go back to work, but are still not happy with the government's pay offer. This followed the return on Friday morning of their colleagues in KwaZulu-Natal.

"We have called off the current action and asked people to go back to work, which is exactly what has happened," said South African Medical Association (Sama) Western Cape chairman Mark Sonderup.

Dogs receive six minutes per hour to bark

dog barking.jpgThe proposed six-minutes per hour limit on dog barking by the City of Cape Town's revised animal by-law will help save the city council R50 000 a month.

And it will stop "vendetta complaints" between neighbours from spiralling out of control and ending up in long and costly court battles.

Mayoral committee member for safety and security JP Smith said that of an average 400 complaints logged daily at the city's call centre, 100 related to dog complaints. Over a six-month period, there were almost 2 000 dog-related complaints.

Cold Fronts to hit the Cape

Sections of the Western Cape are to be thrashed by another three cold fronts this week, and they are predicted to bring gale force winds, cold, mountain snow, heavy rain and massive seas.

Passing today, the first cold front brings with it rain and fresh westerly winds.

Top Cop accused of sexual attacks

A Northern suburbs station commissioner accused of raping and indecently assaulting a police captain is being investigated by the Independent Complaints Directorate.

The officer, who holds the rank of director, faces two rape charges and a charge of indecent assault.
