So i was checking out my boys @ MCBN this morning and was alerted to the following interesting information... On Thursday the 11th @ 7pm our fine President Jacob Zuma will be giving the State of the Nation Address. So besides a good couple laughs and hopefully an 'ushimi wami' rendition this will provide us here in Cape Town with some traffic problems.
As per usual, several roads around Cape Town will be closed on the 11th and traffic into the city will be affected on the 8th & 9th when the City will be doing dry runs to check that everything is on track logistically. So for your convience check this out...

The City of Cape Town Communication Department has provided a list 0f alternate routes for motorists to use in order to still access certain parts of the city during the ceremony:
Alternative Routes
M5, Black River Parkway, then onto the N1, Table Bay Boulevard. M4, Main Road, onto Victoria Road up to the Good Hope Centre. Thereafter left onto Tennant Road or right onto Oswald Pirow Road to circle the outer CBD. Outer CBD Circle Road – Use the following ring route to the area of the CBD you want to access:
Oswald Pirow Road Table Bay Boulevard Buitengracht Buitensingel Street Orange Street Jutland Avenue Upper Roeland Street / Brandweer Street Tennant StreetParking Restrictions
There will also certain parking restrictions in place in the following areas from midnight on Wednesday, 10 February 2010 to 22:00 and also on Thursday, 11 February 2010. Alternative parking options include the Grand Parade, Buitenkant Street and Darling Street.
