What is the Mafia Dance Festival you may be asking... Well once every now and again a special event comes along... And Mafia Dance Festival is indeed that event... An event not to be missed, and experience to change your life!

Situated on a island just of the coast of Tanzania this promises to be a once in a lifetime experience. 

A 14 day trance party on an tropical island...hmmm sounds just about right... The festival is from the 1 -15 August 2010, so just as the World Cup finishes we can head off and celebrate... whos with me? Lets be part of our very own 'The Beach'...

THE VENUE:

As a mentioned this party is situated on the amazing tropical island of Mafia of the coast of Tanzania...
The name Mafia is derived from the Arabic, meaning “group” or “archipelago”, or from the Swahili meaning "a healthy dwelling-place".

Mafia island is the largest of a small archipelago of islands and lies 25km off the coast of Tanzania in the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. Much of the island and surrounding archipelago is a designated Marine Park, and remains an untouched paradise of original coastal forests, surrounded by one of the world's richest marine habitats.

The Island lies off the mouth of the Rufiji River in Southern Tanzania. It is one of the least developed parts of an undeveloped country, yet it has been, and continues to be, part of important historical processes. Although its spectacular marine life is becoming increasingly well known, especially since the setting up of the Mafia Island Marine Park, little other information is widely available.

Mafia is little changed from ancient times and retains a traditional, friendly culture. Chole Bay and its surrounding forests and islands are now within the protected Mafia Island Marine Park, supported with assistance from the World Wide Fund for Nature.

The festival venue will be located in a coconut forest, next to the beach...!!!

Its size is about 2 square km! All Camping areas, stages and most of the facilities will be under the shade of the coconut forest and the ground is totally flat, with low grass and sandy!!

This massive coconut forest is placed close to Kilindoni. This area is not a protected ecosystem inside the Marine Park boundaries, but please respect nature - she is your mother.

The Alternative stage were ethnic, downtempo and chill out music meet! No techno, minimal or anything uptempo what so ever!

The African stage that will include original African music and all kinds of Tanzanian arts in a large market area! Paintings, Sculptures, Masks and more. Bands here play unplugged! Tribalism needs no electricity!!

The Awareness stage were Movies and Lectures on matters of global and spiritual importance, join forces with Workshops on Yoga and Meditation!

Great to see alot of the SA boys on the lineup... But let me be the first to say wow... i cant even comment where would one start...

So now that you are convinced you want to know about tickets...

TICKETS:
The tickets will be different from what you usually buy. We will not have the normal paper tickets that most of you have seen until now. The ticket will be like a CREDIT CARD (we used the same credit card form in Samothraki Dance Festival 2003).

To buy your ticket you need to submit your full name. Its ticket its strictly personal and we do this to avoid fake tickets. Each ticket has price, number and is a magnetic card. At the festival gates we will have electronic card readers to check the autheticity of the tickets, together with a manual search database. You will be asked for your ID/passport at the door.

In case you buy your ticket and you can’t come, inform the outlet that you purchased your ticket and we might be able to change the name of your ticket. To ensure that your ticket is valid, please buy from authorized ambassadors and stores only. We work in almost 50 countries, look in usual places!!

NOTE: Ambassadors normaly charge on top of the ticket price, about 10 euro per ticket for service fee.
Tickets range from 110 EUROS - 330 EUROS depending on how close to the event you buy it...
