Cape Party NewsPosted by: Good Hope rEVOLution in Politics on Feb 19, 2009 |
As a follow up on a blog posted in December, here's further news on the Cape Party.
1. the webpage http://www.capeparty.com/ is up and running and where one can find information on basic standpoint and direction
2. CAPE Party are in court procedings against COPE (congress of the people) over confusion regarding the name:
we obtained the following quote from the Cape Party Treasurer General
"Firstly the Cape Party was here before the Cope Party, and secondly there is an abundance of evidence proving that there is not only 1) potential for confusion, but 2) that confusion has already taken place, and COPE plays on this confusion.
A few weeks ago a cartoon caption in the Cape Times read "people are considering the new break-away party the Cope of Good Hope" - comedic effect playing on confusion between the words cape and cope. Furthermore, COPE has used this confusion in their own marketing. In one instant using bumper stickers reading: "Welcome to Cope Town" - directly playing on the confusion between cope & cape. "
3. A single private donour, who at this stage wishes to remain anonymous has today stumped up the 40k zar required to participate in the Provincial elections.
4. The streets of Cape Town, sporting events and rural towns have also witnessed several outreaches by grassroots Cape Party volunteers ....
5. Additional information can be obtained by visting the Claremont office, Office G, Warwick Street, Cavendish Close (opp cavendish Square) or telephoning 021 671 8668 email: cape@capeparty.com
